Soon after the device is connected it alerts the satellite that it is connected and operational and then you can track the vehicle it is installed in. Once everything is up and running you are able to pull up a web page, enter in your login information and then you can click on the vehicle id and begin to locate the vehicle. If you are using it for inventory control or teen tracking then you will be able to set it up where you get alerts on your cell phone or in your email box alerting you that the location of your vehicle has changed (geo fencing).
